Job details
About this role
Role overview This is a senior pre-sales engineering role partnering with state, local, and education (SLED) accounts across the Pacific Northwest, including Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. The position focuses on translating customer business challenges into technical data-storage and data-platform solutions that win deals and grow net-new revenue. It is a remote, customer-facing role that blends deep storage expertise with consultative selling alongside account managers, specialists, and channel partners.
Responsibilities - Build deep understanding of customer business drivers, decision criteria, and measurable outcomes that technology choices must support. - Partner with account managers, specialists, and channel partners to design cohesive account strategies and deliver a seamless customer experience. - Lead technical evaluations, benchmarks, and proof-of-concept system configurations to secure the technical win. - Deliver product and architecture presentations, map solutions to business value, and author or contribute to RFP, RFQ, and RFI responses. - Drive interoperability, functional, and performance testing initiatives, and feed joint roadmap and planning conversations with customers. - Collaborate with product management and technical marketing on collateral such as whitepapers and web presentations, and track competitive positioning.
Requirements - At least 5 years of relevant experience spanning technology, design, and communications, including pre-sales work with enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software accounts. - Strong grasp of multi-tiered client/server and web-based architectures, including scale-out versus scale-up patterns and cloud-native designs. - Hands-on familiarity with modern web stacks, microservices, and frameworks such as the AWS Well-Architected Framework. - Working knowledge of storage architectures (FC, iSCSI, NAS, OSD, SAN), Linux, NFS, and distributed computing environments including multiprocessing, virtual memory, and cache subsystems. - Demonstrated success prospecting new accounts and converting them into clients, supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have - Familiarity with storage-intensive applications such as structured SQL or Oracle databases, and digital-transformation initiatives spanning on-premises and cloud deployments.
Benefits and work setup - Remote role based in the PacNW region (WA, OR, ID), with annual base salary typically ranging from $141,400 to $212,100 USD, plus potential incentive pay and equity eligibility.
