Job details
About this role
Role overview Contribute to the networking and protocol layer of a privacy-first browser built around AI experiences and decentralized technologies. The position focuses on designing and implementing decentralized network features that strengthen user privacy by default. The role operates on a remote-first basis.
Responsibilities - Design and implement decentralized networking features that integrate with a privacy-first AI browser product - Develop protocol-level components that enable peer-to-peer or distributed connectivity while preserving user anonymity - Collaborate on the architecture of network primitives that other engineers and product teams will build upon - Investigate and resolve protocol, transport, and connectivity issues across diverse network environments - Contribute to technical documentation that explains the design decisions behind networking and protocol choices
Requirements - Hands-on experience as a network or protocol engineer working on distributed or decentralized systems - Strong understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, routing, and transport-layer behavior - Familiarity with decentralized protocols and concepts such as peer-to-peer networking, DHTs, libp2p, or comparable stacks - Practical knowledge of privacy-preserving networking techniques, including encryption, onion routing, or similar approaches - Ability to write production-quality code in a systems language such as Rust, Go, C++, or equivalent
Nice to have - Experience working on browsers, browser engines, or WebExtensions and the web platform - Familiarity with AI-driven product surfaces and the network demands they create - Contributions to open-source networking or cryptography projects - Comfort working asynchronously in a remote-first engineering culture
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote-first working arrangement - Direct involvement in shaping the networking foundation of a privacy-first AI browser
