Remote job
Quantum Architect – Simulation
Job details
About this role
Role overview A research-engineering role focused on simulating fault-tolerant photonic quantum architectures at scale. The position sits at the intersection of quantum information science and collaborative software development, building the simulation infrastructure used to validate new methods for generating entangled resource states and encoded logic through linear optical networks. It is an R&D-heavy role embedded in a fast-moving environment working toward utility-scale quantum computing.
Responsibilities - Partner with quantum architecture researchers to understand, implement, and simulate state-of-the-art methods for entangled resource state generation and encoded logic. - Design, develop, and maintain robust simulation software tools and infrastructure for full-stack quantum architectures. - Profile simulation code and explore more efficient computational techniques. - Run simulation analyses, manage the resulting datasets, and communicate findings to technical stakeholders. - Ensure that simulation tools and modelling frameworks interoperate across teams and projects.
Requirements - Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering; a postgraduate degree related to quantum information or technology is preferred. - Three or more years of collaborative software engineering experience, ideally in an R&D environment. - Solid knowledge of quantum information and linear optics, with familiarity in linear optical quantum computing, quantum error correction, quantum networks, error modelling, graphical calculus (such as ZX calculus), or tensor networks strongly preferred. - Extensive experience with Python; working knowledge of a lower-level language such as C++ is preferred. - Comfort with collaborative software development tools, version control, code review, and modern engineering best practices.
Nice to have - Background in switching or multiplexing networks as applied to photonic systems. - Experience translating research prototypes into maintainable, production-quality scientific code.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time U.S.-based role eligible for equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package. - Benefits include health coverage for employees and dependents, 401(k) with company match, financial wellness tools and planning resources, wellness benefits, family support programs, life and disability insurance, paid leave, company-designated paid holidays, discretionary time off, and an end-of-year company shutdown; many are subsidized or fully paid. - Compensation is set by U.S. geographic zone, with published annual base salary ranges spanning roughly $127,600 to $192,700 USD depending on zone.
