Role overview A senior player-coach position leading a data and reporting organization that supports enterprise clients and internal teams. The role focuses on delivering dependable client reporting, building shared data infrastructure, and turning operational information into actionable business insight across the company.
Responsibilities - Translate enterprise client reporting needs into clear requirements, owning report content, accuracy, and on-time delivery while setting expectations on scope and tradeoffs. - Act as the primary relationship owner for key client accounts, ensuring their reporting and data needs are met reliably. - Manage, coach, and develop a data team, setting goals, giving direct feedback, and growing individual capability and ownership. - Guide technical delivery by planning capacity, reviewing queries and data models, and stepping in on SQL or code work when needed. - Set standards for data pipelines, shared models, internal BI and SQL tooling, and partner with Engineering on how data moves through the warehouse. - Improve automation and tooling, making build-versus-buy decisions in collaboration with Business Operations based on business value and maintainability.
Requirements - 7+ years of experience in data, analytics, or reporting, including 3+ years managing a data or analytics team with a track record of developing people and improving delivery. - Experience leading client discovery and explaining technical tradeoffs in plain language, including difficult conversations about scope, timelines, and quality. - Experience delivering data into client systems through recurring extracts or agreed file formats, including reconciliation work. - Strong SQL proficiency and data-modeling knowledge, with familiarity in Python or similar scripting. - Experience with production data systems, including data warehouses, pipelines, BI tools, and build-versus-buy decisions. - Curiosity, agency, and the ability to quickly learn a complex business domain.
