Role overview This is an advisory opportunity for a neuroscience specialist to evaluate the accuracy of AI-generated graphical abstracts drawn from scientific research papers. The work supports a verification project that helps ensure AI systems produce trustworthy summaries of complex technical literature. It is a flexible, ad hoc engagement open to qualified experts based in the Washington, DC area.
Responsibilities - Review neuroscience research papers alongside AI-generated graphical abstracts and judge how faithfully each visual represents the source material. - Identify factual errors, structural problems, and misrepresentations in both the visual and textual elements of the AI summary. - Apply deep domain knowledge to confirm that technical concepts, terminology, and findings are rendered correctly. - Document quality issues in clear feedback that project teams can use to improve model performance. - Complete a paid qualifying skills assessment using a sample paper and abstract before being onboarded to ongoing tasks.
Requirements - Master's or PhD in Neuroscience or a closely related field. - Demonstrated deep expertise navigating peer-reviewed neuroscience literature. - Strong attention to detail with prior experience in fact-checking or similar analytical review. - Ability to assess graphical representations alongside the underlying scientific content. - Comfort working remotely on flexible, task-based assignments.
Nice to have - Previous experience with AI training, evaluation, or data annotation tasks. - Background in scientific publishing, peer review, or scholarly editing.
