Role overview This is a fully remote, flexible opportunity for a Neuroscience Specialist based in the Cambridge area to serve as an expert evaluator on an AI verification project. The role centers on reviewing machine-generated graphical abstracts of scientific papers and confirming that they faithfully capture the original research. Work is structured as an ad hoc, hourly engagement that fits around academic schedules.
Responsibilities - Review neuroscience research papers alongside LLM-produced graphical abstracts - Identify factual, conceptual, or visual inaccuracies where the AI summary misrepresents the source material - Apply domain expertise to verify that technical terminology, methods, and conclusions are portrayed correctly - Document errors and provide structured feedback used to refine AI model outputs - Pass a paid qualifying skills assessment with a sample paper and abstract before joining the project
Requirements - Master's or PhD in Neuroscience or a closely related discipline - Demonstrated ability to read and critically evaluate dense scientific literature - Strong attention to detail and prior experience with fact-checking or analytical review - Comfort working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment - Reliable internet connection and availability for ad hoc assignments
Nice to have - Prior experience evaluating, annotating, or training AI/ML systems - Background in scientific publishing, peer review, or journal editing - Familiarity with the conventions used for graphical abstracts in biomedical journals
