Role overview A senior people-and-engineering leadership role within a SaaS organization serving the wholesale distribution and supply-chain market. The manager will act as a hands-on technical guide for a small, collaborative product engineering team, owning delivery health while mentoring engineers through career growth and architectural decisions. The position suits a leader who enjoys shaping process in a high-growth environment where priorities shift quickly.
Responsibilities - Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers across varying seniority levels, owning output, technical direction, and career progression. - Partner with product, design, customer success, and peer engineering leaders to plan, prioritize, and deliver against the product roadmap. - Provide real-time product judgment on in-flight work, clarifying requirements, scoping trade-offs, and removing blockers to keep delivery on track. - Own team execution metrics (cycle time, work-in-progress, velocity), identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement. - Manage support escalations in partnership with customer success, and work with DevOps to maintain CI/CD pipelines, testing quality gates, and engineering best practices. - Participate in hiring, onboarding, and scaling the engineering organization, including running regular 1:1s and performance reviews.
Requirements - 3–5+ years leading engineering teams at SaaS companies, with direct management of engineers at multiple seniority levels. - Demonstrated success developing talent and retaining high performers. - Working knowledge of at least one area of the stack: Elixir, React, React Native, or AWS. - Hands-on experience running Agile, Kanban, or Lean teams with measurable improvements in velocity, quality, or delivery timelines. - Track record scoping, planning, and shipping software at a consistent cadence, including building the processes that support it. - Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical context for non-technical stakeholders; comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous, startup-style environments.
