Field Deployment Engineer

Role overview A field deployment engineer is needed to serve as the bridge between core engineering and the operators using a natural language intent system in real, high-stakes environments. The role owns end-to-end integration onto ruggedized edge compute and unmanned systems, from cabling and configuration through on-site troubleshooting and operator enablement. It is a high-travel position for an engineer who prefers the field to the IDE and can solve complex integration problems where they actually happen.

Responsibilities - Own end-to-end integration of the system onto ruggedized edge compute and unmanned platforms, including physical cabling, configuration, and making it work in the field. - Serve as the first line of defense for troubleshooting, debugging hardware and software integrations in real time over SSH, system services, logs, and node connectivity. - Stand up and troubleshoot the tactical network the system depends on, including static and dynamic addressing, isolated subnets, link bridging, and handheld control surfaces. - Travel up to 50% to client sites and test ranges to ensure the technology performs under pressure. - Work directly with operators to capture field observations and translate them into actionable product requirements for the core development team. - Train and support users so they can confidently command fleets of unmanned systems using natural language intent.

Requirements - Three or more years in software engineering, systems integration, or a comparable field engineering role. - Hands-on experience deploying and debugging software on embedded compute in ruggedized field configurations, plus practical skills configuring LANs, bridging links, working across isolated subnets, and tracing connectivity down to the packet. - Direct hands-on experience operating unmanned platforms, with practical controller time valued over certifications. - Strong proficiency in Python, comfort reading and debugging C++, and hands-on experience with Linux and containerization. - Willingness and ability to travel frequently to support deployments and testing. - Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience. - U.S. citizenship and current U.S. residency are required.

Nice to have - Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; an active Secret or TS/SCI is preferred. - Background in defense technology or robotics.
