About this role
Role overview
The Associate Technical Director is a senior technical leadership role focused on shaping and delivering modern software and data platform solutions, with an emphasis on analytics environments built on Microsoft Fabric. The position blends hands-on architecture work with portfolio-level oversight, guiding client engagements from initial discovery through delivery. It is well suited to a technically grounded leader who enjoys designing elegant systems while steering multiple projects to successful outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Define end-to-end system architecture across application, integration, and unified data platform layers, including Microsoft Fabric deployments, and drive alignment among stakeholders. - Provide hands-on technical leadership for individual projects, including scope management, risk mitigation, third-party coordination, and accountability for budget and timeline. - Lead technically focused early-stage engagements such as code audits and proof-of-concept phases that set the tone for larger programs. - Oversee a portfolio of concurrent client engagements, ensuring consistent quality and architectural integrity across the full body of work. - Collaborate directly with clients to clarify requirements, advocate for sound architectural decisions, and translate business objectives into clear technical direction.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in solution architecture and technical design, with depth in cloud architecture, system design, API development, infrastructure management, and integration patterns. - 8+ years of leadership experience directing technical teams and executing an architectural vision across multiple projects. - Hands-on experience designing and delivering production solutions on Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, lakehouse and warehouse design, Data Factory pipelines, and Power BI semantic models. - Demonstrated ability to guide organizations through migrations from legacy Azure data services or on-premises BI environments into Fabric, with working knowledge of capacity planning, governance, and security. - Strong client consulting skills, including the ability to understand business processes and industry context, paired with proven delivery management across scope, timelines, and resources.
Nice to have
- Experience modernizing legacy customer-facing applications rather than full rebuilds, and comfort working across a wide variety of project types and industries.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote position; candidates must reside in select U.S. states (Texas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Nebraska, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, South Carolina, or Washington). - Must be currently and legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship; international relocation is not supported. - U.S. base salary range of $170,000 to $190,000 plus benefits, with variation based on role, level, and location. - Medical, dental, and vision coverage, wellness days, a wellness program, and disability insurance. - IRA with up to 3% annual employer match and paid parental leave. - 15 days of PTO, 9 U.S. holidays, 5 wellness days, and a closed office during the last week of the year, with PTO increasing over tenure. - A 40-hour work week is encouraged to support work-life balance.
