Job details
About this role
Role overview A senior Technical Program Manager role leading a multi-quarter portfolio of data platform modernization programs. The position sits within a data engineering organization and drives cross-team execution across streaming ingestion, table format migrations, workflow consolidation, and legacy deprecation, partnering closely with engineering leads, finance, and governance stakeholders.
Responsibilities - Lead programs spanning CDC/Kafka/Flink ingestion, Hive-to-Iceberg table format migrations, workflow platform consolidation, and legacy system retirement. - Drive cross-team execution across many producer and consumer teams, managing timelines, dependencies, and risks among service owners. - Build and maintain program dashboards that give engineering and platforms leadership a current view of progress, validated savings, risks, and decisions. - Own reporting and tracking for a large data infrastructure efficiency portfolio, coordinating with team-level DRIs and partner finance and governance stakeholders. - Use GenAI as the default operating model to draft program artifacts, modernize high-toil workflows, synthesize status, and surface risks and escalation paths. - Prototype AI-assisted tools, dashboards, and process helpers using AI coding assistants, while following AI governance and safety-by-design practices.
Requirements - 5+ years of TPM experience leading complex, cross-functional technical programs, ideally within large-scale data platforms, streaming systems, or data infrastructure modernization. - Solid understanding of batch/streaming pipelines, table formats, storage layers, and workflow orchestrators, and the tradeoffs involved in modernizing them. - Strong analytical skills, with experience building dashboards, interpreting data, and using insights to drive decisions and validate savings. - Track record of partnering with senior engineering and business stakeholders in high-visibility settings. - Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities across a fast-moving, multi-workstream roadmap. - Workflow design and AI fluency: turning repeatable program work into durable mechanisms using GenAI for prompting, dashboards, analysis, and lightweight tooling.
Nice to have - Hands-on experience with data platforms, streaming systems (Kafka, Flink), or open table formats such as Iceberg. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-eligible across the country with in-person collaboration expected roughly 1–2 times every six months; US-based applicants only, with eligibility for equity and a published base salary range of $123,684–$254,644.
