Sr. Software Engineer, Android

Role overview Join the team building a flagship Android experience used by millions of people, collaborating with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to advance mobile technology and product surfaces. The work spans both product engineering and platform initiatives such as build systems, client testing, modularization, and shared frameworks that raise velocity and quality across the mobile organization.

Responsibilities - Drive the full engineering lifecycle from rapid prototyping and A/B testing through architecting, building, and releasing features and frameworks that scale to millions of users. - Lead technical initiatives that benefit both users and engineers, such as modularization, scalable architecture, advanced media handling, dependency injection, and reusable UI components. - Uphold and advance code quality across foundational and shared components used by large engineering teams. - Work with modern mobile tooling including AI-driven development, build and test automation, and comprehensive CI/CD pipelines. - Mentor peers, deepen expertise, and lead high-impact projects across both the mobile product and platform landscape. - Use AI thoughtfully to accelerate execution, applying sound judgment and verification to all generated outputs.

Requirements - 5+ years of professional Android experience on product or platform teams, delivering consumer or business-facing products at scale. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Proficiency in modern Android development with Kotlin and/or Java, including Activity Lifecycle, memory management, and modular app architecture. - Strong experience with Gradle, CI/CD, automated testing, and tools such as Buildkite and Android Studio. - Habit of writing reliable, maintainable code designed for use by large engineering teams. - Demonstrated use of AI/ML tools to improve velocity and quality, with a critical approach to evaluating and validating outputs.

Nice to have - Exposure to expanding AI-powered capabilities for mobile developers, dependency-graph health improvements, or web deployment stability work.

Benefits and work setup - Remote-eligible role based anywhere in the country, with occasional in-person collaboration roughly one to two times every six months. - Not eligible for relocation assistance. - US-based applicants only; base salary range $149,600–$308,000 USD plus equity.
