Remote job
Sr. Security Software Engineer, Security Operations
Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead technical direction for a Security Operations organization that builds the platforms, automations, and developer-facing capabilities used to govern cloud infrastructure and software delivery at scale. The position blends hands-on software and infrastructure engineering with architectural ownership, cross-functional influence, and accountability for the reliability and adoption of security-critical services.
Responsibilities - Set the architecture and technical direction for core Security Operations systems, automation pipelines, and developer-facing security capabilities. - Design and ship reliable production services, infrastructure-as-code, and policy-as-code that govern cloud resources and software delivery workflows. - Build scalable guardrails and paved paths covering identity and access, infrastructure changes, cloud configuration, service hardening, and CI/CD security. - Improve how security issues are identified, prioritized, and remediated by integrating vulnerability signals, automating triage, and creating clear ownership. - Drive complex, cross-functional initiatives from problem definition and design through implementation, adoption, and operational maturity. - Establish engineering standards and mentor partner teams, applying AI responsibly to accelerate analysis, design, and validation.
Requirements - Track record designing, building, and operating complex production systems in security engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or a related area. - Strong experience with AWS security architecture, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code, ideally across large-scale or multi-account environments. - Depth in one or more areas such as cloud governance, CI/CD security, vulnerability management, security automation, compliance platforms, or developer security tooling. - Demonstrated ownership of ambiguous technical initiatives, including architecture decisions, tradeoff evaluation, and impact beyond a single team. - Solid software engineering judgment across system design, APIs, reliability, observability, testing, and safe operation of security-critical systems. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-eligible role based anywhere in the country, with occasional in-person collaboration roughly one to two times every six months. - Not eligible for relocation assistance. - US-based applicants only; base salary range $155,584–$320,320 USD plus equity, with final compensation reflecting location, experience, and skills.
