Role overview
This staff engineering role drives the design and implementation of next-generation AI governance capabilities within an enterprise data platform. Working alongside product, security, and compliance teams, the engineer will build agent discovery, lifecycle governance, policy enforcement, observability, and secure integration across multiple AI ecosystems. The position combines hands-on data engineering with forward-looking AI platform work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain AI agent governance capabilities across platforms such as Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, Microsoft Copilot, and Azure AI Foundry - Rapidly prototype and iterate on AI agent features, adopting new frameworks and industry best practices - Leverage AI coding assistants and agentic development tools while maintaining code quality and clear requirements - Advance core identity governance capabilities including certifications, lifecycle management, workflows, and separation of duties - Partner with support and customer-facing teams to troubleshoot issues and improve product reliability - Monitor AI agent performance, usage, operational health, and security across multiple platforms - Collaborate with platform, security, and product teams to apply authentication, authorization, and least-privilege principles - Implement logging, metrics, monitoring, and compliance observability for AI agents - Evaluate emerging AI agent platforms, interoperability standards such as MCP and Agent-to-Agent communication, and governance technologies - Document architecture, governance processes, operational procedures, and engineering best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or equivalent practical experience - 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related software engineering roles - Hands-on experience with data ingestion, processing, and pipelines using frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Beam, or Apache Flink - Strong understanding of data modeling and designing scalable data solutions - Solid grasp of distributed data systems and data integration patterns - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Nice to have
- Exposure to Identity Governance (IGA) concepts - Experience building MCP servers and AI agents with frameworks such as LangGraph and LlamaIndex - Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices - Background building enterprise-scale distributed systems - Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives
