Software Development Engineer in Test

Role overview

Join a close-knit engineering team building reliable software for a global contactless and cashless payments platform. As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will embed quality throughout the development lifecycle, create resilient automation, collaborate closely with engineers and domain owners, and help ensure cloud-based, distributed systems are secure, scalable, and testable.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and deliver maintainable, scalable, reliable software into a secure cloud infrastructure. - Establish testing practices that promote shared ownership of quality and a testable mindset from project planning onward. - Help teams estimate test effort, identify dependencies, and address quality considerations during planning and refinement. - Pair with software engineers during implementation and code review to achieve appropriate coverage without duplicated effort. - Develop and maintain automation for integration, regression, load, performance, and security testing. - Investigate complex defects by examining logs, databases, and system behavior to determine root causes. - Contribute to robust tooling and practices for event-driven, distributed services and containerized environments.

Requirements

- Proven ability to advocate for modern testing practices and mentor engineers in an automation-first quality culture. - Deep experience across the testing pyramid, including unit, component, integration, end-to-end, load, and performance testing. - Proficiency with testing strategies such as TDD, BDD, black-box and white-box testing, plus mocking, stubbing, test-data management, and results reporting. - Hands-on experience with native Go testing packages and a UI automation framework such as Playwright; experience in another language may be considered with willingness to learn Go. - Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure as code, cloud platforms such as GCP, microservices, event-based architectures, and containerization. - Understanding of Git workflows, object-oriented design, SOLID principles, design patterns, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing. - Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with careful attention to detail.
