About this role
Role overview An engineering management role leading the full lifecycle of software development from concept and design through testing and deployment for a health insurance technology platform. The position blends hands-on technical leadership with people management and cross-functional partnership to deliver stable, scalable products for members.
Responsibilities - Manage and develop a team of engineers, including performance management, mentorship, and career growth. - Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical projects to agreed deadlines and quality standards. - Lead architectural decisions and technical design for full-stack applications, balancing stability, performance, and scalability. - Partner with product, design, data, and other engineering leads to define roadmaps and solve high-value business problems. - Promote engineering best practices including code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement. - Identify and remove bottlenecks that affect team velocity, system reliability, and overall delivery.
Requirements - 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with increasingly impactful technical contributions. - 2+ years in an engineering management or technical lead role. - Demonstrated ability to design and build fault-tolerant, scalable software systems. - Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals applied within a team context. - History of writing stable, correct, maintainable, and modular code with light oversight. - Experience iterating on ideas through experimentation, whether involving new technologies or existing systems.
Nice to have - Advanced frontend architecture experience and end-to-end web application development. - Background in microservices design, database performance tuning, or distributed systems. - Exposure to machine learning integration, large language models, or data-driven product features. - Prior work in healthcare or another highly regulated industry.
