Job details
About this role
Role overview Create and evaluate challenging machine-learning engineering tasks that help assess AI systems working with model development and operations. This part-time contract work calls for hands-on technical judgment across implementation, training, inference, numerical computing, and performance, with solutions documented so others can reproduce and verify them.
Responsibilities - Design, solve, review, and validate demanding tasks involving machine-learning models, training, and inference. - Build or modify model components, data pipelines, evaluation systems, and numerical methods. - Improve memory use and throughput, and investigate numerical or system-level defects. - Use Python, command-line tools, and coding agents to create reproducible workflows. - Check technical results for correctness and provide clear, objective evaluation.
Requirements - Master's or doctoral degree in computer science, machine learning, AI, applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a closely related quantitative field. - Strong professional or research experience in machine learning. - Practical ability with Python and coding agents. - Experience building reproducible programmatic workflows and verifying technical results. - Deep expertise in at least one area such as machine-learning systems, numerical computing, performance optimization, or inference workflows. - Fluent English and exceptional open-source contributions.
Nice to have - Familiarity with tools or libraries such as JAX, NumPy/SciPy, SGLang, vLLM, llama.cpp, tokenizers, or Transformers. - Prior AI training work is not required.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote, part-time independent-contractor work, with about 15 hours per week and flexible timing. - Compensation is described as an equivalent of $60–$120 per hour, paid per accepted task.
