About this role
Role overview This Design Engineer role sits at the intersection of engineering and product design inside a consumer fintech building embedded financial services. The position involves shipping production-ready components directly in code, leveraging AI-assisted development tools at speed, and helping redefine how design-to-code handoff works. It is a first-class engineering role that demands fluency in both Figma and modern frontend codebases.
Responsibilities - Generate production-ready components directly in the codebase rather than producing spec-only deliverables. - Use AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or v0 to move at production velocity and ship more in a day than most teams do in a week. - Help shape a new design-to-code workflow that replaces traditional spec-based handoff. - Translate fluently between designers and engineers so the gap between disciplines disappears. - Sweat implementation details like pixel alignment, design tokens, and component-to-code mapping that others miss. - Operate in a fluid process environment and help define how the team ships work.
Requirements - Strong fluency in both Figma and code, particularly React Native or React. - Active daily use of AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, v0, or similar) at production velocity. - Deep understanding of design tokens, component architecture, and how design systems map to code. - Experience shipping on cross-functional teams where design and engineering overlap. - Strong communication skills across both design and engineering disciplines. - Track record of operating in fluid environments and helping define how teams work.
Nice to have - Familiarity with the Node and TypeScript server stack, the NestJS framework, microservice-oriented architecture, Kubernetes, and AWS. - General familiarity with modern software engineering practices.
Benefits and work setup - Competitive base salary, stock options, and health benefits from day one. - 401(k) plan with company match. - Remote-friendly (US) with flexible time off and growth opportunities in a high-growth environment.
