Remote job
Senior Software Engineer, Solutions Engineering
Job details
About this role
Role overview A digital chronic care provider is hiring a senior software engineer for its Solutions Engineering team. The team sits between customers, product, and engineering, designing tailored technical solutions, shaping cross-system integrations, and demonstrating feasibility for prospective and existing clients. The work blends hands-on coding with architecture, mentorship, and stakeholder-facing delivery decisions in a remote-first environment.
Responsibilities - Design and shape complex, cross-system integrations such as partner and alliance APIs, weighing architectural fit and operational impact. - Identify recurring manual effort and codify reusable templates, standards, and automation that the broader team can build on. - Lead root-cause investigations beyond immediate fixes, distinguishing architectural, monitoring, or process causes and preventing recurrence. - Mentor engineers and non-engineers who write code or build automations, raising the team's coding quality and judgment. - Partner with commercial, product, and engineering stakeholders to scope solutions, negotiate trade-offs, and drive delivery decisions. - Take on loosely specified problems, ask the right clarifying questions, and produce a technical plan the team can execute. - Surface risks, edge cases, security concerns, and downstream impacts early and capture deep knowledge in runbooks. - Participate in an on-call rotation, triaging issues that affect members and assisting internal investigations.
Requirements - 5–8 years writing readable, tested, and efficient production code, ideally with strong Ruby on Rails experience; exceptional backend engineers from other stacks who can ramp quickly are also welcome. - Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL. - Track record building and consuming APIs and integrations across service boundaries. - Experience with API-driven automation workflows using tools like Tines, n8n, or similar. - Daily fluency with AI-assisted development and a thoughtful stance on where coding assistants help versus where they hurt. - Background in solutions engineering, implementation, or another customer-facing technical role, plus mentoring or project-leadership experience. - Strong debugging, optimization, and SDLC skills, with clear written and verbal communication for non-engineering audiences.
Nice to have - Familiarity with a modern front-end framework such as React or Vue. - Experience in healthcare or another regulated, data-sensitive domain.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first work-from-home culture with flexible time off and generous parental leave. - Health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, an employee stock purchase plan, equity grants, a lifestyle spending account, and mental health support resources.
