Senior Engineering Manager, Member Experience

Role overview A healthcare technology company focused on chronic disease prevention is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple squads responsible for the member-facing product surface. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people management, owning delivery, prioritization, and engineering quality across more than one team. The position calls for an experienced engineering leader who still writes code, shapes roadmap tradeoffs, and develops other managers.

Responsibilities - Drive end-to-end delivery across multiple squads, including sprint shaping, backlog grooming, estimation, and prioritization decisions - Own and improve cycle time across squads, balancing speed with quality and explaining variance when it appears - Remain technical by shipping production work off the critical path, reviewing architecture, and supporting incident response - Partner with product counterparts to keep scope ownership clear so engineers receive a single, coherent direction - Develop and grow any engineering managers who report in, with their team's health as evidence of progress - Plan headcount, skill mix, and onboarding paths for an AI-assisted codebase so new hires ramp quickly - Establish and document engineering standards for AI-assisted development that other squads can adopt independently - Step in to resolve cross-team problems that have no clear owner and drive them to closure

Requirements - 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years managing engineers directly - Demonstrated success developing another leader into a tech lead, engineering manager, or equivalent role with real accountability - Track record of shipping mission-critical software to production and operating it reliably - Hands-on familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, including where they help and where they create rework - Comfort making tradeoff calls on capacity when competing priorities collide - Ability to teach the engineering manager craft, not just perform it

Nice to have - Prior experience as a manager-of-managers, or equivalent scope - Background in consumer-facing or member-facing product surfaces
