About this role
Role overview A senior Android engineer is needed to help evolve a brand-new consumer mobile application for a restaurant-industry SaaS platform. The position focuses on shaping post-MVP features, stabilising the codebase through bug fixes, and influencing both the Android and iOS roadmaps. It is a fully remote role based anywhere in Northern Ireland, partnering closely with a dedicated mobile engineering manager and four experienced engineers.
Responsibilities - Design and ship complex Android features in Kotlin, taking ownership from concept through delivery - Lead code reviews, set quality standards, and mentor junior engineers through technical discussions - Proactively reduce technical debt with refactoring and architectural improvements - Partner with Product and other stakeholders to refine requirements and align solutions with business goals - Monitor production services, diagnose critical issues, and participate in on-call duties - Contribute to distributed-systems architecture decisions, performance optimisations, and CI/CD pipeline improvements using GitHub Actions - Use modern AI coding agents as part of the daily workflow and help integrate them into team practice
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience - 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on native mobile development - Advanced proficiency in native Android development using Kotlin, including complex algorithms and architectures - Hands-on experience improving CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions - Strong background in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing with a focus on automation - Demonstrated mentoring and cross-team collaboration skills
