About this role
Role overview A mid-level Android engineer is needed to help evolve a brand-new consumer mobile application for a restaurant-industry SaaS platform. The work centres on post-MVP features, bug fixes, and contributing input to both the Android and iOS codebases. The role is fully remote within Northern Ireland, embedded with a dedicated mobile engineering manager and a team of four experienced engineers.
Responsibilities - Implement moderately complex Android features in Kotlin, taking growing ownership of larger tasks - Write clean, maintainable code and actively participate in peer code reviews - Collaborate with Product to refine requirements and shape solutions that meet business needs - Assist in deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting services in production environments - Contribute to building and maintaining reliable distributed systems, including resilience mechanisms - Support the team's delivery pipeline, helping optimise code quality, testing, and deployment practices - Use modern AI coding agents in the daily workflow as part of structured AI training - Participate in on-call duties as assigned
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience - 2+ years of software engineering experience focused on native mobile development - Proficiency in native Android development using Kotlin, including moderately complex features and algorithms - Experience with version control such as GitHub and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions - Comfortable writing and maintaining unit and integration tests - Strong problem-solving abilities and collaboration skills, with experience communicating technical detail to product managers and stakeholders
