Role overview
A mid-level Android engineering role focused on shaping the next phase of a brand-new consumer mobile application serving the restaurant industry. The engineer will help evolve the product beyond its initial MVP, translating real-world user feedback into shipped features and fixes while contributing to the long-term roadmap. The position is fully remote within Northern Ireland and embedded in a small mobile team led by a dedicated engineering manager.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship new Android features in Kotlin and Java, taking the product beyond its MVP stage. - Investigate, prioritise, and resolve bugs reported by a fast-growing user base, turning feedback into actionable improvements. - Contribute to feature roadmap planning alongside the mobile engineering manager and iOS counterparts. - Provide input on the technical direction of both the Android and iOS codebases to keep them coherent and healthy. - Collaborate closely with a small group of experienced mobile engineers, most of whom are based in Northern Ireland.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience developing and shipping production Android applications using Kotlin and Java. - Working knowledge of the Android SDK, modern app architecture patterns, and release workflows. - Ability to work independently in a fully remote setup while staying aligned with a distributed team. - Comfort working in an iterative product environment where user feedback directly shapes priorities.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with iOS development (Swift) to support cross-platform collaboration. - Experience supporting a consumer-facing app from early launch through growth. - Background in payments, digital ordering, or guest-engagement products.
