Role overview
A technical program management role on an early-stage team, responsible for delivery across the systems that keep an intelligence product current. The scope runs from source ingestion and entity resolution through model training and evaluation to the regional delivery path serving the API and console, with frequent sequencing calls that cross research, data engineering, machine learning, and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Own two or three concurrent workstreams end-to-end: scope, sequence, dependencies, risk, and a delivery date the team can defend - Turn research and engineering intent into a written plan with milestones, owners, entry and exit criteria, and the evidence that closes each one - Run planning, status, and retrospectives as short written artifacts readable without attending a meeting - Track dependencies across source ingestion, entity resolution, model evaluation, and delivery, and surface slips the week they appear - Hold the release path with infrastructure: what ships, behind which flag, with which rollback, and which latency and freshness measurements get read afterwards - Maintain a delivery risk register covering single-owner work, sole-source vendor dependencies, and licensing or export-control questions that gate a source - Represent schedule reality to leadership and to customers during trials, including when the honest answer is later than hoped
Requirements
- Five or more years managing technical programs in software, data infrastructure, or comparable engineering organizations - Fluency with distributed data pipelines, model training and evaluation loops, and APIs with a regional delivery path; able to read a design and find the gap in it - A record of shipping work that crossed at least three teams, with sequencing and dependency calls made by you - Default to written communication: plans, decisions, and status land as documents, not verbal updates - Comfort planning against instrumentation such as latency, freshness, correctness, and recovery rather than percentage complete - Judgment on scope: you can say what is out, defend it with the underlying constraint, and reopen it when the constraint changes - Fluent English with US working hours overlap and the discipline to record why and when a decision was made
