Role overview This role focuses on designing, deploying, and operating the front-end networking services that underpin both internal management platforms and customer-facing cloud infrastructure. The work spans high-speed Ethernet data centre fabrics, internet transit, WAN and long-haul connectivity, and data centre networking, while acting as a senior escalation point for the support organisation.
Responsibilities - Design, deploy, and operate high-speed Ethernet-based front-end networks, including data centre fabrics, management networks, inference traffic paths, and storage connectivity. - Partner with deployment teams to ensure bills of materials are correct, with strong focus on optics, cabling, and hardware selection. - Provide input into data centre layouts, rack elevations, and reference architectures to support scalable front-end network rollouts. - Troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues across routing, optics, and long-haul circuits. - Automate deployment, stand-up, and day-to-day operations across multi-vendor Ethernet hardware platforms. - Design, implement, and support WAN and long-haul infrastructure, including carrier circuits, DCI, and internet transit. - Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to maintain reliability, observability, and operational efficiency.
Requirements - Proven experience designing, deploying, and operating high-speed Ethernet networks, including VLAN, LACP, MLAG, BGP, OSPF, EVPN, and VXLAN. - Strong knowledge of WAN and long-haul technologies such as MPLS, BGP, IPsec, GRE, SD-WAN, and carrier Ethernet. - Solid understanding of data centre networking topologies and best practices for front-end infrastructure networks. - Strong Python or Bash scripting skills for automation and tooling. - Strong optics and hardware knowledge to support BOM design, cabling standards, and troubleshooting. - Comfort working in fast-paced operational environments with a focus on reliability and automation.
Nice to have - Hands-on experience with Arista EOS or other vendor networking platforms. - Experience with large-scale DCI, long-haul optical transport, or carrier circuit management. - Familiarity with storage networking over Ethernet and shared storage connectivity. - Experience with network automation frameworks, validation tooling, or observability platforms such as streaming telemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana. - Prior exposure to AI or hyperscale infrastructure environments.
