Staff Product Engineer

Role overview A fast-scaling UK startup behind an agentic household management service is hiring a Staff Product Engineer to lead the largest, most cross-team bets across the product. The role is about multiplying impact, picking up the highest-leverage problems and shaping how the team helps members across energy, broadband, insurance, and personal finance. Engineers here own problems end-to-end, and staff engineers additionally drive the architectural and strategic decisions that compound across service lines.

Responsibilities - Pick up and lead the biggest cross-team bets, shaping how the product delivers value to members. - Architect and evolve the orchestration framework that powers all service lines. - Mentor and multiply the impact of other product engineers through technical leadership. - Partner with product, commercial, legal, and regulatory stakeholders to ship novel product lines quickly and safely. - Drive improvements to the internal AI tooling that accelerates engineering and operational work. - Set technical direction for areas such as agentic workflows, data extraction, and long-running processes.

Requirements - Significant experience shipping complex, consumer-facing products in fast-paced startup environments. - Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional engineering efforts from idea to production. - Deep comfort with backend systems, integration layers, and full-stack product development. - Strong judgment on when to invest in foundations versus moving quickly. - Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, low-ego leadership style.

Nice to have - Experience designing or operating agentic systems or workflow orchestration platforms. - Background in regulated industries such as insurance, financial services, or open banking. - Prior experience introducing new technical architecture across an organisation.
