Role overview

A hands-on engineering role focused on shaping the behavior of AI agents that support higher education use cases such as enrollment, learning, and student services. The position bridges AI capability with educational effectiveness, translating operational and pedagogical goals into reliable agent behavior backed by measurable evaluation frameworks.

Responsibilities

- Design, test, and iteratively improve prompts and system instructions that drive AI agents across enrollment, learning, and student support use cases - Build and maintain evaluation frameworks that verify whether agent behavior is meeting intended goals - Partner with product managers, learning designers, university stakeholders, and engineers to convert business and pedagogical requirements into concrete agent behavior - Write and maintain basic JavaScript or Python code to support prompt automation and testing pipelines - Integrate and use APIs from model providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic to power agent workflows - Iterate quickly on prompt design based on user feedback and real-world performance signals

Requirements

- Eligibility to live and work in the United States for the duration of employment - Ability to read and write basic code in JavaScript or Python for prompt automation and testing - Hands-on familiarity with APIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, or comparable model providers - Comfort working through ambiguity and iterating quickly based on feedback - Track record of working effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment

Nice to have

- Experience translating pedagogical or operational goals into AI system behavior - Background building evaluation or quality frameworks for LLM-based systems
