Remote job
Network Deployment Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview A hands-on network engineering role focused on the connectivity layer of GPU-focused data centre builds. The position owns the network-specific workstream of each site rollout — switches, external carrier circuits, and firewall perimeters — sitting alongside a separate deployment lead who covers the broader physical build. The work is remote-first with regular travel to data centre locations, and the role acts as the named on-site point of contact for carriers, fibre operators, and network contractors.
Responsibilities - Install and configure network switches directly on-site during data centre builds, rather than handing work off to a separate implementation team - Establish external connectivity for each site by coordinating with local network operators and fibre providers to bring circuits live - Manage carrier and fibre provider relationships end-to-end across the deployment lifecycle - Deploy and configure firewalls as part of the live build, including the site perimeter rather than policy authoring alone - Serve as the day-to-day on-site contact for operators, fibre providers, and network-focused contractors - Coordinate with the senior deployment lead and data centre operations so the network layer lands in step with the wider build
Requirements - Hands-on data centre network deployment experience, including physically installing and configuring switches on site (architecture-only experience is not sufficient) - Direct, practical experience establishing carrier or fibre connectivity — having run point with local network operators or ISPs to bring a circuit live - Firewall deployment and configuration experience as part of a live build, not policy authoring alone - Comfort being the named on-site contact for external operators and contractors, without an intervening layer managing the relationship - Willingness to travel regularly to data centre sites as part of remote-first working
Nice to have - Background as a network deployment engineer or lead at a neo-cloud or hyperscale data centre operator - Field engineering experience at an ISP or fibre network operator delivering last-mile or site connectivity - Experience in a colocation or enterprise data centre network operations team handling switch and firewall installs
Benefits and work setup - Competitive salary with an annual discretionary bonus scheme - Employee wellbeing benefits - 25 days of holiday plus public holidays - Remote-first working with travel and flexibility suited to the role - Ownership of a distinct layer of the build, with autonomy over how it is delivered - Clear career progression opportunities in a fast-growing infrastructure business
