Infrastructure Specialist

Role overview The Infrastructure Specialist serves as a technical escalation point for complex network, cloud, and server issues across small and mid-sized business environments. The position blends hands-on deployment, deep troubleshooting, and automation engineering, balancing day-to-day support with continuous improvements to reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities - Own deployment and lifecycle management of Cisco Meraki environments, including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, VPNs, and SD-WAN solutions, covering hardware staging, configuration, installation, user testing, and acceptance - Apply the OSI model with Wireshark, packet captures, and the Meraki Dashboard to diagnose latency, packet loss, connectivity, and wireless issues affecting end users - Analyze network, server, and Azure alerts to identify root causes, develop automated runbooks, integrate with APIs and management platforms, and automate repeatable remediation tasks - Coordinate ISP and carrier escalations, gathering and communicating relevant diagnostics and circuit information through resolution - Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for client systems, including disaster recovery, security, and backup and restore plans - Monitor emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits, enforce timely patching, and harden device and network configurations following best practices with minimal disruption

Requirements - Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, infrastructure monitoring, and alert/alarm management - Proven automation skills with PowerShell and/or Python, including runbook development and API integration - Hands-on Cisco Meraki networking experience with hardware staging and configuration - Advanced troubleshooting ability spanning networking, Meraki, Azure, server infrastructure, packet analysis, and carrier management - Strong critical thinking and the confidence to move between disciplines while resolving escalated incidents - Professional IT certifications or equivalent experience such as AZ-104, AZ-140, CCNA, Meraki Solutions Specialist, or a Python certification

Benefits and work setup - Fully remote role supporting clients in the Charlotte, NC area, with occasional on-site travel to local client sites - Compensation starting at $76,000+ plus bonus, with the final offer determined by candidate experience and expertise
