Software Engineer 4 - Finance and Tax Technology

Role overview This senior software engineering role focuses on the systems that power a global finance and tax technology organization, supporting financial close, reporting, compliance, and tax workflows at enterprise scale. The position is open to remote candidates within the United States and is suited to an engineer who can operate independently on large, ambiguous problems across the full stack. Expect close collaboration with finance, tax, and accounting partners who are the primary internal customers.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate services and platforms supporting financial close, tax compliance, and reporting workflows. - Partner with finance and tax subject-matter experts to translate regulatory and operational requirements into reliable software. - Improve reliability, observability, and developer experience for the finance and tax technology portfolio. - Contribute to architectural decisions and engineering standards that influence adjacent teams. - Mentor other engineers and participate in code review, design review, and incident response.

Requirements - Several years of professional software engineering experience building production systems at scale. - Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and comfort across distributed systems, data pipelines, and APIs. - Experience integrating with ERP, tax engines, or financial data systems is a strong plus. - Track record of leading complex, multi-quarter projects with cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice to have - Background working closely with tax, accounting, or finance operations teams. - Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code practices.
