Role overview
This is a three-month contract opportunity for a mid-level User Researcher working remotely from anywhere in the United Kingdom. The role sits within a Design function supporting Information Technology and Services work, helping teams understand user needs and translate those insights into better product and service decisions. The position follows a standard full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm.
Responsibilities
- Plan, run, and synthesise user research activities using methods such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing - Translate findings into clear insights, personas, journey maps, or other artefacts that inform design and product decisions - Collaborate with designers, product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to embed user-centred thinking across the project lifecycle - Advocate for users and ensure research evidence is considered during prioritisation and design choices - Document and present research outcomes to varied audiences, adapting the level of detail to the audience
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience working as a User Researcher at a mid-level stage, comfortable running projects with light guidance - Working knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods and when to apply each - Ability to plan and execute end-to-end research projects independently, from scoping through to delivery - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tell a clear story from data - Comfortable working fully remotely and collaborating with distributed teams across the UK
Nice to have
- Experience contributing to or maturing research practice within a design or product team - Familiarity with accessibility considerations and inclusive research practices
