Remote job
Lead Site Reliability engineer - Network infrastructure - APAC
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead the reliability engineering effort for network infrastructure during an early-stage expansion into the APAC region. You will define reliability goals, improve how network services are operated, and remain hands-on with automation and incident response while building a local SRE team over time.
Responsibilities - Set and own service indicators, reliability objectives, availability targets, and error budgets where appropriate for regional network services. - Improve reliability across network services, data center readiness, inter-site connectivity, and operating standards for new sites. - Lead incident response and post-incident investigations, turn recurring failures into lasting fixes, and establish regional on-call practices. - Develop useful metrics, logs, traces, and alerts that make issues faster to detect and diagnose. - Design safer network change processes using automation, testing, staged rollouts, rollback plans, and audit trails. - Partner with network and platform engineers across APAC and Europe, coordinate cross-time-zone handoffs, and hire and mentor the first regional SREs.
Requirements - At least seven years in SRE or infrastructure engineering, including team leadership or technical leadership with broad production ownership. - Strong Linux fundamentals and a methodical approach to debugging complex systems. - Solid networking knowledge, including control and data planes, latency, packet loss, and failure domains. - Experience operating and improving highly available production systems. - Ability to write and maintain software or automation; Go is common, and Python is also suitable. - Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, container platforms, or similar tools, and the independence to build processes from scratch. - Willingness to stay hands-on while leading and growing a team.
Nice to have - Experience with high-throughput traffic systems, load balancers, tunneling, decapsulation, or NAT64. - Low-level networking performance work involving eBPF/XDP, DPDK, performance tracing, or kernel internals. - Network-safe delivery pipelines, large-scale telemetry, or familiarity with APAC carriers and regional connectivity.
Benefits and work setup - Offers competitive compensation, flexibility, career development, and an international, collaborative environment. Applicants must be authorized to work in the country where they apply and provide proof of eligibility.
