About this role
Role overview This is a senior individual contributor position on the Automation Engineering team embedded within the Ad Products & Solutions group of a major media organization's Ad Sales business. The engineer designs and builds software-driven automation that reduces manual effort, improves reliability, and accelerates delivery across advertising technology workflows. It is a full-time, regular role set up as a home-based assignment in New York.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain automation software and tooling that supports ad sales engineering and operations workflows. - Identify repetitive or manual processes across advertising systems and convert them into automated, maintainable solutions. - Build scripts, services, and frameworks that streamline operational tasks and integrations. - Partner with cross-functional engineering, product, and operations teams to integrate automation into existing platforms and pipelines. - Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and engineering standards within the automation codebase. - Continuously improve existing automation to handle new use cases and scale with the business.
Requirements - Senior-level professional experience as a software engineer with a focus on automation, tooling, or platform engineering. - Strong proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages commonly used for automation work. - Hands-on experience building automation frameworks, orchestration tools, or scripting-based solutions. - Familiarity with modern software engineering practices including version control, testing, and peer code review. - Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and collaborate effectively across teams. - Comfort working within a fast-moving, product- and platform-oriented engineering organization.
Nice to have - Background or interest in advertising technology, ad operations, or media-platform systems. - Exposure to data engineering, pipelines, or analytics tooling that intersect with automation initiatives.
