Solution Development Architect: Presales, AI/GPU Infrastructure
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This senior presales role focuses on shaping opportunities for GPU, AI, and high-performance cloud infrastructure deployments across enterprise data center environments. The position spans discovery through technical close, partnering with customers and internal teams to translate complex infrastructure needs into clear, executable solutions. It is a client-facing role that blends technical credibility with commercial awareness, taking ownership of solution definition, services scoping, estimation, and proposal development.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer discovery sessions, technical workshops, and presales conversations to surface business objectives, infrastructure requirements, timelines, constraints, and acceptance criteria. - Assess existing data center and network environments and develop or validate designs for high-density GPU, AI, and cloud deployments. - Interpret network diagrams, rack elevations, floor plans, bills of material, cable schedules, and logical and physical topology documentation. - Build and validate take-off sheets, site assessments, rack and cabling requirements, and other discovery artifacts used for pricing and execution. - Translate requirements into detailed Statements of Work covering tasks, deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, customer responsibilities, and acceptance criteria. - Develop labor and services estimates for installation, rack-and-stack, structured cabling, configuration, integration, testing, migration, and commissioning. - Evaluate physical infrastructure readiness, including pathways, fiber connectivity, optics, power distribution, cooling, and containment considerations for high-density GPU environments. - Identify and communicate technical, commercial, and delivery risks, including scope gaps, assumptions, alternatives, and mitigation strategies. - Present solution designs and proposals to customers and partner with sales to qualify opportunities, differentiate offerings, and advance deals toward close.
Requirements
- 7+ years in presales engineering, solutions architecture, data center infrastructure, network infrastructure, design engineering, professional services, consulting engineering, or a closely related technical role. - Demonstrated presales experience including customer discovery, technical selling, solution positioning, proposal development, and support through technical close. - Hands-on data center infrastructure experience covering racks, structured cabling, power, cooling, fiber connectivity, physical topology, and deployment considerations. - Strong knowledge of data center networking and high-performance fabrics, including Ethernet switching, routing, optics, and rack-level connectivity. - Working knowledge of RoCE and InfiniBand architectures and the physical infrastructure requirements for GPU and AI cluster deployments. - Experience developing Statements of Work, labor estimates, technical scopes, take-offs, or professional services proposals. - Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to lead technical conversations, simplify complex concepts, handle objections, and influence customer decisions.
Nice to have
- Experience with Neo-Cloud, GPU, AI, HPC, structured cabling assessments, data center site surveys, or high-density data center environments.
Benefits and work setup
- Unlimited paid time off and paid parental leave. - Company-funded retirement plan contributions and 100% employer-covered individual and family health insurance plans. - Transparent culture with 1:1 coaching, quarterly performance reviews, and an ongoing feedback loop. - Team-building events and a collaborative, performance-oriented environment. - Must be based in the United States; base salary range of $160,000–$180,000 in New York City, plus bonus and/or commission opportunities, with compensation varying by location.
