About this role
Role overview
A Product Manager role focused on execution within a data-intensive product organization that builds on large proprietary datasets and applies AI to serve customer needs. The position partners day-to-day with engineering to translate priorities into a well-managed backlog, drive momentum through ambiguous problem spaces, and ship value iteratively. Over time, the role can grow into more strategic ownership and direct stakeholder-facing work.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain a prioritized backlog with clear user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, and scope decisions, following up until work actually ships - Partner with engineering on solution design and scope, pushing for iterative releases that get value out the door without waiting for perfection - Come prepared to planning and refinement sessions so the team can move efficiently rather than catching up in the room - Track metrics that reveal whether shipped work is working, and use them to inform next steps - Surface risks, blockers, and gaps proactively, before they become fire drills - Collaborate with senior product leadership and engineering leads to help shape and prioritize problem statements - Build domain fluency through relentless, good-natured question-asking so you understand not just what is being built but why it matters - Communicate clearly across audiences through help docs, release notes, and honest stakeholder updates
Requirements
- Roughly 3–5 years of relevant experience in product management, or an adjacent background such as engineering, operations, client success, or program management that has built the same muscles - A proactive, low-ego collaborator who cares more about team outcomes than individual credit - Strong, clear communicator who shares status and priorities without being asked - Comfort moving fast and showing early work even when it is not fully polished, preferring direction checks over a week of perfecting something potentially off-track - Curiosity to dig into a new technical domain and keep asking questions until you genuinely understand it - A relationship-builder whose engineers and stakeholders trust you
Nice to have
- Experience with APIs or technical and data products
Benefits and work setup
- Open to candidates in Washington, DC; New York, NY; Chicago, IL, or remote, with a preference for DC or NYC - In-office perks include catered lunch Tuesday through Thursday and casual after-work gatherings - Target salary range is $107,500–$174,900 with a midpoint of $141,200, plus eligibility for additional variable compensation and an equity grant - Commitment to an inclusive workplace with reasonable accommodations available
