Role overview A staff-level product design opportunity focused on a business banking product used by hundreds of thousands of small businesses. The role combines hands-on design craft with people leadership, sitting inside a design organisation of 100+ practitioners and working closely with research, product, engineering, and data.
Responsibilities - Set long-term design vision and lead large, end-to-end projects in ambiguous business-banking problem spaces. - Deliver high-impact design work while managing and developing a small team of designers. - Navigate tradeoffs and guide strategic product decisions in an opinionated, evidence-led way. - Raise the bar for design craft across the broader organisation through exemplars and critique. - Partner with cross-functional leaders to translate product strategy into shipped, measurable outcomes. - Tackle systemic complexity, mentor designers, and act as a visible ambassador for the design discipline.
Requirements - Deep expertise in a specific product design discipline, with strong fundamentals across UI, interaction, and visual design. - Demonstrated experience managing designers while remaining hands-on in craft. - Track record of delivering design work that influences customer outcomes and commercial metrics. - Strategic thinker who can shape direction across multiple squads and turn organisational goals into actionable plans. - Thrives in fast-changing, ambiguous environments while maintaining a high quality bar. - Natural collaborator with strong cross-functional working skills and a passion for growing the design community.
