Engineering Manager

Responsibilities - Lead a mission-driven squad typically containing product managers, backend, web and mobile engineers, data scientists, designers, and subject-matter experts. - Own technical and delivery outcomes for the area, balancing quality with pace. - Coach and develop engineering talent, running performance, progression, and feedback conversations. - Build an inclusive team environment where people can do their best work. - Contribute to shaping product direction alongside product and design counterparts. - Stay close enough to the technical work to credibly review architecture and trade-offs.

Requirements - Demonstrable experience managing engineers or engineering teams in a cross-functional setup. - Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, hiring, and progression management. - Ability to balance delivery pressure with long-term technical health. - Excellent communication skills for working across technical and non-technical partners. - Comfort operating in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment with a shallow management structure. - Background as a software engineer with sufficient depth to lead technical discussions.

Nice to have - Experience scaling teams or organisations through periods of growth. - Familiarity with regulated industries such as banking or fintech.

Benefits and work setup - Base salary £112,000–£145,000 plus performance-linked incentive awards and a benefits package. - Location options: Cardiff, London, or remote within the UK.
