Sr. Native Mobile Engineer (Android & iOS) (Remote)

Role overview A senior, ownership-focused native mobile engineering role responsible for the Android and iOS apps backing a consumer VPN used by tens of millions of people worldwide. The role centers on inheriting and stabilizing acquired codebases, integrating a custom networking engine written in Go, and partnering across product, design, and DevOps to ship reliable privacy products. Responsibilities - Take end-to-end ownership of the Android and iOS mobile domain for a consumer VPN serving users in heavily restricted network environments - Inherit existing mobile codebases, reverse-engineer unfamiliar logic, and close knowledge gaps left by the acquired team - Integrate and debug native libraries delivered as .aar, .framework, or XCFramework artifacts and investigate issues across the mobile-to-Go boundary - Build and refine automated unit and integration tests, instrument Espresso, UI Automator, XCTest, and XCUITest, and replace manual regression with CI/CD - Identify critical technical and security risks, harden release workflows, and contribute to uptime targets at world-class market levels - Collaborate with backend, DevOps, product, design, and marketing to execute the strategic roadmap and ship product improvements

Requirements - Five or more years of senior native mobile engineering experience on both Android and iOS in an agile environment - Deep production experience with Kotlin and Java, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, Hilt or Dagger, Retrofit, Room, and WorkManager on Android - Deep production experience with Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, Swift Concurrency, Combine or RxSwift, and Core Data or equivalent on iOS - Hands-on work with platform VPN APIs such as Android VpnService and iOS NetworkExtension, plus WireGuard, OpenVPN, Shadowsocks, and TCP/IP, DNS, and TLS fundamentals - Experience publishing and maintaining apps on Google Play and the Apple App Store, including store compliance for VPN apps and review-rejection handling - Security-minded engineering practices covering token storage, certificate handling, and user privacy as default rather than afterthought

Nice to have - Comfort using AI coding agents to plan, implement, test, and review code while knowing when to verify their output
