Ruby Developer

Role overview Build and maintain APIs that connect software systems, while contributing production-quality Ruby code to core services. This hands-on role combines API design, implementation, integration, documentation, and operational support, with opportunities to guide engineering quality and delivery.

Responsibilities - Design API specifications, endpoints, data models, and REST or GraphQL interfaces. - Develop and maintain production services, collaborating on solution design and reviewing code for quality, security, and maintainability. - Integrate APIs with internal platforms, external applications, and third-party services. - Document API usage and best practices for consumers, and manage versions while preserving backward compatibility. - Apply authentication, authorization, encryption, and other secure development practices; coordinate technical and compliance expectations with partner teams. - Monitor and improve API performance and reliability, troubleshoot production issues, and participate in Tier 1 and Tier 2 on-call support.

Requirements - At least 6 years of Ruby on Rails development experience. - Experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs. - Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL. - Familiarity with RSpec and production code quality practices. - Ability to lead or guide engineering work while remaining actively involved in development. - Eligibility for Public Trust clearance.

Nice to have - Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Git, OAuth, and application security. - Experience with asynchronous job processing such as Sidekiq or with Spring Boot and Java.

Benefits and work setup - Remote role within the United States. - Listed annual salary range: $130,000–$140,000.
