Field Architect (Federal)

Role overview

This is a field-facing architect role focused on the U.S. federal market, including Department of War, intelligence community, and civilian agency customers. The position pairs deep storage and infrastructure expertise with mission-oriented design, supporting customers from initial proof of value through production, including air-gapped, classified, and denied/degraded/intermittent/limited-bandwidth environments. It sits at the intersection of engineering, partner enablement, and pre-sales technical leadership for AI training, inference, and analytics workloads.

Responsibilities

- Design S3-compatible object storage deployments for federal customers across on-premises, air-gapped, sovereign cloud, and tactical edge environments, including erasure coding, tiering, and replication topology decisions. - Translate federal compliance frameworks such as FIPS 140-3, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and Zero Trust principles into deployable architecture for agency customers and partners. - Lead proofs of value, technical demonstrations, and reference architecture design for Department of War, intelligence community, and civilian agency opportunities, working both directly and through channel and systems integrator partners. - Provide technical training and architecture guidance to federal resellers, systems integrators, and technology ecosystem partners so they can independently scope and deploy solutions. - Coordinate joint architecture work with GPU, data platform, and hardware ecosystem partners to support co-sell motions, joint solutions, and shared reference designs. - Advise on Kubernetes-based deployments (including OpenShift and Rancher) and on data infrastructure patterns that keep GPU clusters fully utilized for AI training, fine-tuning, large-scale data lake, inference, and agentic workloads. - Author reference architectures, technical white papers, and solution briefs that support the federal sales team and partner network in active pursuits.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Four or more years in a solutions architect, sales engineering, or field engineering role, ideally within cloud, storage, or federal systems integration. - Ability to obtain a security clearance; an active clearance is strongly preferred. - Deep technical knowledge of S3-compatible object storage, Kubernetes, and cloud-native or hybrid on-premises architectures. - Familiarity with GPU-accelerated infrastructure and the data and memory demands of AI training and inference at scale. - Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks and with air-gapped, classified, and DDIL deployment environments. - Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex architecture decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
