Remote job
Senior Product Manager, External APIs
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This senior product role owns the strategy, roadmap, and governance for an external API ecosystem that powers integrations for partners, third-party developers, and enterprise customers in the fitness, wellness, and experiences space. The position treats APIs as a product in their own right, shaping technical standards, the developer experience, and the commercial motion that helps external integrators build confidently on the platform. It is a high-impact, cross-functional role bridging engineering depth with partnerships, sales, and go-to-market execution.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the vision, roadmap, and governance model for the public-facing API surface, including design conventions, authentication and authorization patterns, versioning, deprecation lifecycle, rate limiting, and partner-facing SLAs. - Shape the external developer experience end to end, including documentation, sandbox environments, webhooks, onboarding flows, and support channels that make integrations fast and reliable. - Serve as the voice of the partner ecosystem, turning integration friction and usage data into a clear perspective on the highest-impact opportunities for the platform. - Partner with business development teams and external integrators to land strategic integrations that solve real customer problems and unlock measurable commercial value. - Lead the go-to-market motion for API changes, enabling customer experience, sales, and account management teams, and communicating clearly with partners around launches, versioning, and deprecations. - Define and track ecosystem health metrics such as adoption, partner activation, integration reliability, and overall developer satisfaction, and use data to prioritize investment and tell the story of API impact.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience owning technical or platform products end to end, ideally including external or public-facing APIs consumed by other developers or partners. - Strong technical depth to engage credibly with engineering and architecture on system design, integration patterns, security, and data privacy, with working familiarity around authentication models, rate limiting, and versioning. - A platform mindset, designing for reuse, scale, and longevity rather than one-off solutions. - Comfort operating across both technical and commercial stakeholders, translating needs from partnerships, sales, and enterprise customers into a coherent technical roadmap. - A history of driving complex, cross-functional initiatives through influence rather than direct authority. - Fluency with data, including defining the metrics that matter, using them to prioritize, and communicating impact and lifecycle decisions.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with developer portals, API gateways, and usage analytics tooling. - Prior exposure to OAuth, webhook design, or enterprise integration architectures. - Experience supporting partner ecosystems in fitness, wellness, or consumer SaaS.
Benefits and work setup
- The posted base salary range for United States candidates is $150,000 to $185,000, with the total compensation package potentially including a performance bonus and additional incentive plans. - The employer describes a commitment to equal opportunity and to considering candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. - Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support the team and broader business goals.
