Engineering Manager
Job details
About this role
Role overview An engineering leader is needed to head the team behind an AI-driven virtual front-desk assistant that handles calls, replies to customer questions, and books classes and appointments automatically for fitness and wellness businesses. The product is already live, integrated with each customer's system of record, and is reported to save active operators roughly 25 hours per month while resolving the large majority of inbound messages without staff involvement. The role sits at the intersection of applied AI and production engineering, turning rapidly evolving model capabilities into a reliable system operators trust to run their business.
Responsibilities - Lead and grow a team of engineers building and scaling a live AI assistant, staying close enough to the code to review architecture and unblock tough technical decisions. - Own full-cycle people management, including recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and performance reviews. - Set technical direction that balances fast iteration on new capabilities with the reliability a revenue-critical product demands. - Partner with product, data, and applied AI peers to prioritize what ships next. - Make architectural choices that hold up as usage expands across multiple brands and millions of customer interactions. - Define and uphold the quality bar, including the evaluation and monitoring approach that surfaces regressions before operators notice them. - Contribute to engineering-wide practices and standards beyond the immediate team.
Requirements - Three or more years managing engineering teams of six or more in a still-technical, close-to-the-code capacity. - A track record of shipping and scaling AI-powered SaaS products in a B2B2C setting. - Strong Python skills, with the comfort to move across a mixed stack that includes React and C#. - Experience taking AI capabilities from prototype to a system reliable enough to run in production. - Clear communication with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. - Comfort setting direction in a problem space that is still genuinely ambiguous rather than already solved. - Hands-on familiarity with modern AI development tools and frameworks.
Nice to have - A genuine interest in building a strong, diverse engineering team rather than a stated one.
Benefits and work setup - The disclosed U.S. base salary range for this position is $164,250 to $219,000, with a total compensation package that may include a performance bonus, benefits, and other applicable incentives. - The employer describes itself as an equal opportunity employer that highly values diversity across backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives.
