Remote job
Senior Research Engineer, Generative 3D
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build generative models and training systems that turn design intent into manufacturable CAD, while bringing physics and simulation into the generation process. You will also guide research choices, evaluate promising methods, and help take models into production in collaboration with geometry and engineering specialists.
Responsibilities - Develop and train models that generate geometry across implicit, latent, and boundary-representation formats. - Incorporate differentiable simulation and physics-based optimization so generated parts can meet specified loads and constraints. - Manage the model pipeline from data curation and licensing through training, checkpoints, evaluation, and deployment. - Create evaluation measures for geometry quality, request fidelity, and generation cost. - Develop CAD and mesh understanding capabilities, including segmentation, semantic classification, and spatial reasoning. - Review and reproduce relevant research, recommend which approaches to pursue, and productionize models with latency and cost in view.
Requirements - Evidence of published or shipped generative 3D work, such as diffusion or flow models, reconstruction, or latent-space optimization. - Experience with differentiable simulation or physics-driven shape optimization, using finite-element methods or equivalent approaches. - Ability to build and operate model training and evaluation pipelines. - Research depth and the ability to assess, reproduce, and communicate the value of methods. - No degree requirement is specified.
Nice to have - Computational mechanics experience, including finite elements, contact, material models, or GPU solvers. - Experience with differentiable rendering, Gaussian splatting, multi-view diffusion, or Rust.
Benefits and work setup - Base pay of $170,000–$220,000, equity with four-year vesting and a one-year cliff, and health, dental, and vision coverage. - Remote work across the United States, with occasional travel to Detroit. - US work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is unavailable. Work may involve NDA-protected customer or partner data and may require US-person status for export-control compliance.
