Role overview A globally distributed platform infrastructure team is hiring an engineer to build and operate the core cloud-native backbone used by customers to connect to the internet safely. The role spans dozens of Kubernetes clusters and virtual machines across multiple cloud regions, with a heavy emphasis on infrastructure as code, observability, multi-region resilience, and security-first design. Engineers in this role are expected to use AI-assisted coding tools as part of their standard workflow.

Responsibilities - Design, deploy, and maintain VM and Kubernetes infrastructure across GCP and AWS for development, staging, and production environments spanning multiple regions. - Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform modules and a TACOS-style orchestration tool, covering networking, compute, storage, and security components. - Operate the observability stack with Grafana Cloud, Prometheus/Mimir, and OpenTelemetry collectors, designing dashboards and alerting rules across platform components. - Manage certificate lifecycle, DNS automation, ingress controllers, and service mesh networking built on Cilium. - Partner with engineering, product, compliance, and security stakeholders on capacity planning, disaster recovery, and architectural decisions. - Reduce operational toil through automation, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-assisted code generation, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation with post-incident reviews.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. - Proficiency in Python, Bash, and Go for scripting and tooling. - Working knowledge of network topologies and protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP/S, UDP, and TLS. - Production Kubernetes experience including cluster administration, RBAC, networking, workload management, and troubleshooting. - Demonstrated Terraform experience for infrastructure provisioning and management. - Familiarity with GCP services such as GKE, VPC networking, Cloud DNS, Artifact Registry, Secret Manager, IAM, workload identity, and comfort using LLM-based code-assist tools.

Nice to have - Experience with GitOps methodologies and tools.
