Staff Product Designer

Role overview Join a small, mission-driven team reimagining how people read and write online. As a Staff Product Designer, you will report to the Director of Product Design and own end-to-end design work across multiple initiatives, from early problem framing through launch. The role sits at the intersection of product strategy, visual craft, and systems thinking, with meaningful influence over what gets built and how it ships.

Responsibilities - Translate product strategy and complex problem spaces into clearly scoped initiatives, partnering with engineering, design, and leadership. - Own and ship high-quality interaction, visual, and prototype work that turns product vision into intuitive reader and writer experiences. - Apply AI design tools and workflows to explore, validate, and communicate new ideas, features, and interactions faster. - Contribute to the design system to keep the product's visual language cohesive and scalable across surfaces. - Run user research to surface pain points and opportunities, and fold those insights back into design decisions. - Uphold a high design bar through collaboration, welcoming feedback, and elevating the impact of the broader design team.

Requirements - 7+ years designing products in fast-paced environments, partnering closely with engineering, design, and product counterparts. - A portfolio with case studies demonstrating strong typography, interaction design, visual design, and shipped work. - Ability to simplify complex problems into clear, intuitive user experiences. - Comfort switching between fine-grained design detail and big-picture product strategy while maintaining pace and quality. - Working knowledge of design systems, including how the discipline has evolved and a perspective on what comes next. - A learning mindset suited to a small, evolving team whose shape and process will continue to change.

Nice to have - Background working in writing, publishing, reading, or other platforms centered on human expression and ideas. - Comfort using AI tooling as part of a design workflow without losing craft.
