Remote job
Senior Android Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Own Android product features from problem discovery through implementation, release, and evaluation after launch. This is a product-focused engineering role: you will help decide what to build, work closely with design and engineers on other platforms, and make sound progress when requirements are still taking shape.
Responsibilities
- Clarify user problems, shape feature scope, propose simpler approaches, and surface platform constraints early. - Build and ship Android features using Kotlin and Compose, following the existing architecture and maintaining strong code quality and test coverage. - Track how released work performs and use what you learn to guide follow-up improvements. - Collaborate with design and with iOS, web, or backend engineers to decide where functionality belongs and deliver coherent cross-platform features. - Exercise judgment on ambiguous requests by asking useful questions, identifying edge cases, and choosing practical next steps. - Help strengthen mobile engineering practices and product thinking; attend twice-yearly in-person team offsites in the United States.
Requirements
- Several years of experience building production Android applications. - Fluency in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, coroutines, Flow, and modern Android architecture. - Working credibility on at least one additional platform, such as web, iOS, or backend. - Experience collaborating with designers and engineers across platforms, and explaining technical tradeoffs clearly to non-engineers. - Strong product judgment, adaptability, and ability to make tradeoffs and keep work moving amid uncertainty. - A collaborative approach that supports open discussion and psychological safety.
Nice to have
Experience using AI to improve team output; prior ownership of product direction; or a personal interest in writing and reader-focused products.
Benefits and work setup
The team is fully remote across the United States and France. Benefits include employee health coverage, partial dependent coverage, parental leave, mental health and financial wellness support, coworking and professional development stipends, a Wi-Fi stipend, a one-time home office allowance, unlimited paid time off, and company holidays.
