Electrical Designer II

Role overview

A full-service design firm is hiring an Electrical Designer II to produce electrical construction documents for data centers and other high-profile commercial projects. The role blends detailed drafting with collaboration alongside engineers and project managers in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. It is well-suited to a designer ready to take on more complex documentation responsibilities and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

- Develop, draft, and publish electrical construction documents for data center and large-scale commercial builds. - Perform drafting tasks under the direction of project managers and engineers, translating direction into accurate plan sets. - Maintain and refine company-specific AutoCAD standards and detail libraries. - Run quality checks on drawings to confirm accuracy and conformance to industry standards. - Prepare and update project documentation such as design revisions, as-built drawings, and technical submittals. - Support Revit model integration and BIM coordination when applicable, working with cross-disciplinary teams to resolve design clashes.

Requirements

- At least 2 years of experience as an electrical designer or drafter. - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. - Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, especially Excel. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines. - Clear written and verbal communication skills and comfort collaborating with project managers, engineers, and fellow designers. - Foundational knowledge of engineering and construction principles.

Nice to have

- Working knowledge of Revit. - Background in mechanical, plumbing, structural, or architectural drafting willing to move into electrical work.

- Candidates must reside in AL, AZ, AR, FL, GA, IN, MI, MO, NV, OH, OK, SC, TX, UT, VA, WA, or WV. - Estimated pay range of $76,800-$97,000 in Virginia and $80,500-$101,700 in Washington, with actual compensation based on skills, experience, and location. - Eligibility to participate in benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k), paid time off, and paid holidays, subject to plan terms.
