About this role

Role overview The Senior Manager of Quality Systems will design, automate, and continuously evolve a Quality Management System (QMS) spanning the full vehicle platform lifecycle, from design controls and engineering change management through integration, fleet deployment, and field support. This is a systems-building leadership role within a Vehicle Platform Engineering organization working on safety-critical autonomous technology, where quality is treated as a process to be engineered rather than administered. The position leads a small, high-performing team to close the loop between field issues and engineering decisions using emerging tools, including AI/ML.

Responsibilities - Re-architect and continuously evolve a flexible QMS that integrates with the safety management system for autonomous platforms - Build iterative closed-loop improvement processes, including root cause analysis, CAPA-style workflows, and trend and risk analysis, connecting fleet data back into design and engineering decisions - Stand up design-control practices (design inputs/outputs, verification and validation, design reviews, traceability) sized to manage safety-critical risk without slowing engineering velocity - Identify manual, paper-heavy quality processes and automate them using AI/ML, LLM-based tooling, and workflow automation for tasks such as non-conformance triage, audit documentation, and trend detection - Partner with autonomy, engineering, fleet operations, and technical support teams to keep the QMS grounded in real field issues and drive fixes through the organization - Define and evolve quality KPIs/OKRs measuring both platform health and QMS effectiveness - Engage suppliers and partners on quality issues and corrective actions when they touch the vehicle platform - Build and grow a high-leverage quality systems function, fostering a culture of quality through better tools

Requirements - 5+ years building or leading quality systems in a hardware/software engineering environment such as automotive, robotics, aerospace, or another safety-critical field - Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field - Hands-on experience with design controls, verification and validation, change management, and root cause/CAPA processes - Demonstrated builder's mindset, with experience creating, rebuilding, or substantially improving a quality system - Comfort leading automation efforts to remove manual work from quality processes - Experience with issue-tracking and workflow tools (e.g., Jira) for traceability across a product lifecycle - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to and influencing stakeholders at every level

Nice to have - Master's degree in engineering, operations, or a quality-related field - Startup or fast-scaling company experience, especially building a function from scratch - Working knowledge of ISO/IATF, ISO 26262 (functional safety), or similar frameworks - Hands-on experience with AI/LLM tooling or workflow-automation platforms, including building internal tools, scripts, or agents - Familiarity with FMEA, Configuration Management, and System and Document Management Systems - ASQ or Lean Six Sigma certification

Benefits and work setup - Comprehensive healthcare suite including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability plans - Health Savings and Flexible Spending Healthcare and Dependent Care Accounts - Retirement benefits with an immediately vested employer safe harbor match - Generous paid parental leave plus a phased return to work - Flexible vacation policy in addition to paid company holidays - Total Wellness Program with multiple wellbeing resources - Office-based environment with prolonged sitting, standing, and computer use; minimal travel (1-10%) - Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check required - Salary range: $145,000-$200,000 USD - Position located in Ann Arbor, Michigan
