Manager, Simulation Infrastructure

Role overview A people-management role leading the team that builds and operates the web applications, databases, and cloud infrastructure supporting large-scale parallel batch simulation runs for an autonomous vehicle program. The position blends technical leadership in distributed systems with people leadership, owning a strategic roadmap for simulation workflow tools, guiding architecture for high-throughput APIs and orchestration, and partnering closely with the simulation engine and broader product organization.

Responsibilities - Recruit, manage, and mentor a team of full-stack and infrastructure engineers, investing in career growth, performance, and team health. - Own the strategic roadmap for web applications and tools that support simulation workflows, including scenario management, run orchestration, tagging and taxonomy, and results analytics. - Guide architecture for scalable cloud infrastructure and container orchestration that supports massive parallel batch simulation workloads. - Oversee the design and maintenance of relational databases and secure, high-throughput APIs connecting frontend portals to underlying simulation systems. - Drive engineering best practices, reliability, observability, and cost-efficiency across the platform. - Partner with the simulation engine team and other stakeholders to align technical capabilities with business needs, define clean integration interfaces, and manage multi-quarter projects.

Requirements - Bachelor's, master's, or doctorate in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. - At least five years of software engineering experience spanning backend services and cloud infrastructure, including at least two years of direct people management. - Hands-on experience guiding teams running production workloads on container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, alongside relational database ecosystems such as PostgreSQL. - Strong foundation building secure, high-throughput APIs and web services in Go, Python, or Node.js, paired with modern frontend frameworks such as React. - Experience recruiting, building, and mentoring full-stack or infrastructure engineering teams.

Nice to have - Experience managing teams that support large-scale batch or parallel compute workloads. - Background driving cloud cost optimization and observability initiatives. - Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and mature CI/CD pipelines. - Experience overseeing the development of internal developer tools or self-service platforms for technical users. - Background in simulation, autonomous vehicles, or robotics.
