About this role

Role overview

Support financial institutions and technology-led payments businesses in designing, implementing, and improving controls that detect and prevent financial crime. The work combines business analysis, consulting, regulatory interpretation, and technology delivery across areas such as transaction monitoring, customer screening, payment screening, risk assessment, and fraud detection.

Responsibilities

- Assess clients’ existing financial crime processes, systems, and controls to identify weaknesses and improvement opportunities. - Recommend and help deliver practical changes that produce measurable improvements in fraud and financial crime prevention. - Work directly with client stakeholders to understand objectives, explain findings, and agree workable solutions. - Collaborate with subject-matter specialists and delivery teams to design, implement, and optimise technology-enabled controls. - Contribute to proposals, client presentations, pitches, and the development of new consulting services. - Support successful project delivery while helping develop the wider consulting business.

Requirements

- Strong business analysis skills, including the ability to investigate complex problems and present conclusions clearly to different audiences. - Consulting capability with confident written, verbal, and presentation communication. - Practical knowledge of fraud and financial crime controls and supporting technology. - Familiarity with relevant financial crime frameworks and requirements, including FCA guidance, JMLSG guidance, FATF standards, money laundering regulations, and payment services regulations. - A degree equivalent to at least a UK 2:1 and three or more years of experience in financial crime, gained in consulting, financial services, or a software organisation. - A proactive, adaptable, collaborative approach and the ability to learn quickly.

Nice to have

- Experience with payment fraud detection and fraud technology. - Understanding of fraud typologies such as authorised push payment fraud. - Data analysis experience using feeds, Excel, SQL, or data visualisation tools.

Benefits and work setup

- Starting salary stated in the source as £50,000–£80,000, plus performance-related participation in company profits. - Pension contribution and 25 days of annual leave, with the option to purchase additional days. - Hybrid working, generally combining three days in an office with two days remotely; client attendance requirements may vary.
