Job details
About this role
Role overview
Build backend capabilities for a product that helps organizations govern the access used by AI agents. You’ll work on a new, evolving offering, taking customer needs from early investigation through implementation and production operation. The role combines hands-on engineering, safe release practices, customer support, and active participation in on-call.
Responsibilities
- Deliver backend features end to end, shaping rough customer requests into useful production changes. - Build testing systems and harnesses that help teams release agent-related changes safely. - Join the on-call rotation and investigate customer-impacting issues, working directly with customers when needed. - Use AI agents in day-to-day engineering while understanding the system well enough to explain its architecture and decisions to teammates. - Adapt implementation plans as customer feedback clarifies the problem and product direction.
Requirements
- At least one year of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent experience shipping real products. - Strong backend fundamentals, including experience building production APIs, databases, and services. - Familiarity with how AI agents work, including tool calls, MCP servers, hooks, and context. - Comfort working in a small, fast-moving environment where requirements may be incomplete and priorities can change. - A strong sense of ownership and interest in building a product that is still developing its market fit.
The stated backend environment includes Python, Postgres, OpenSearch, gRPC, and AWS.
